Blended Education
The CWWPP is prepared to carry out programs of combined onsite and online education, frequently known as blended education. The education and supervision uses the content and methodology of Pragmatic Empowerment Training (PET).
The CWWPP, from the experience of the organization itself since 1995 and from that of some of its workers since 1988, has seen that such training in communication, basic psychology and counseling, non-violent conflict transformation, civil society, and human rights is invaluable to people in the field in many parts of the world. In particular, it is valuable to anyone working with traumatized people. It creates a new group of people with knowledge, skills, and attitudes who can work on the front line. We call such people “barefoot” therapists and peacebuilders.
While modern technology allows us to give such training exclusively online, we prefer to have a combination of face-to-face training along with training online. This lowers costs while, at the same time, allowing people to work together in person, both over longer periods of time.
Group size should be a maximum of 10. Where there are more than 10 people interested in the education, they can be split into two or more groups.
No previous education is required for the program. Participants must be highly motivated.
Our model for such work is as follows.

Assessment and Writing a Proposal
Before we begin to put together a program, we want to speak to all persons who are affected within the community and those from outside who have knowledge of the situation within the community and beyond. If we are to create a program in an area that we don’t know, this probably will require us to be there for a period of at least 3-4 weeks and perhaps longer.
At the end of this period, we will return to Vukovar, and all partners will put together a concept note, communicating electronically.
With regard to the financing of this initial stage, we need to have the costs of transportation, both international and local, and accommodation. Ideally, this financing will come from outside sources. We cannot cover these costs ourselves.
Initial Training
Ideally, we will come to a place and give an initial training, ideally to trainers of trainers, for 3-4 weeks. The aims during this period are that we and the group get to know one another and that we establish the issues involved in further work.
Again, the minimum financing that we require for such training is international and local transportation and accommodation.
Continuing Work Online
Further work will continue online, ideally once per week for two hours. This will include training and supervision.
At various points, such online work will include conferences between groups in various places with similar issues.
Periodic Visits
We feel that it is important to visit with the group from time to time. We would like to come to the location where the group is working 1-2 times per year for a period of about 2 weeks and have the group come to a location where several groups can meet, also 1-2 times per year for a period of 1-2 weeks.
Again, financing for international and local transportation is required.
Initiating the Process
Please write to us at [email protected] describing your situation and your region in as much detail as possible. We then will communicate with you, probably by means of a Skype conversation.
