Cooperation With Other Organizations
Since the beginning of the CWWPP, one of our main principles has been to cooperate with as many organizations as possible and to encourage the formation of local organizations where they do not exist as a part of the development of civil society in the region.
Below, you can find more information on some of our friends and partners.
Marimo The members of Marimo (We Care), a group of the families of patients with mental illness in Osijek and surroundings, have two sets of problems. First, they must deal with the illnesses of their family members and the lack of facilities in this region to deal with them adequately. Second, they must deal with their own traumatization. The CWWPP has been working with Marimo since 2002 to provide groups in which family members can talk and can learn to help others in a similar position. For more information on Marimo and the work of the CWWPP with the group, click here.
Bubamara Bubamara is an organization of about 400 physical invalids and people with mental retardation of all ethnicities located in Vinkovci with members in the two easternmost counties of Croatia. In 2004-2005, we carried out a project financed by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to make small improvements in the homes of such invalids, whether or not members of Bubamara (to read the final report of the project, click here). Currently, the CWWPP is carrying out a training and supervision program for the staff and members of Bubamara to allow them to assist their members psychologically and to assist them in running the organization more effectively. We should note that we are appalled by the conditions under which some of the members of Bubamara are living, particularly in villages, where some families do not even have electricity or indoor water and where there is no psychological assistance for the invalids or their carers. Europe House Vukovar Europe House Vukovar was formed in August, 2000 to promote Croatian integration into the European family of nations. The organization has a lecture series on a wide variety of topics. In addition to these, Europe House carries out work on preventive health, non-toxic agriculture and a range of programs bringing people together to encourage reconciliation. The CWWPP has worked together with Europe House on seminars on trauma and preventive health. Europe House is also part of the coalition of organizations working on the Field Institute Project. Bench We Share Association of Osijek The Bench We Share Association was originally a project of the Center for Peace, Non-Violence and Human Rights, Osijek, founded at the height of the War. The group originally worked in Hungary, bringing family, friends and colleagues together from both side of the ethnic divide together. Since the end of the War, the Bench We Share has primarily worked in Baranja, north of Osijek, on reconciliation. The Rev. Clive Fowle of the UK has provided additional training in trauma work. The CWWPP and the Bench We Share have given a number of workshops together and the groups consult frequently. The Bench We Share is also a member of the coalition working on the Field Institute/Synagogue Center Project.
